Waihi Beach has many attractions and some of the best coastal walks in the country. The Waihi Beach to Homunga coastal walk which takes in the pristine Orokawa Beach is a must do for those who love walking and tramping. The 9km Waihi Beach is a lovely bike ride below mid tide and the return trip can be made from Bowentown taking in the bike trail from Pio Shores to Emmerton Road.
Waihi Beach and the area has an abundance of cafes and eateries and many with national awards. The Waihi Beach Village boutique shops are well known and also very popular with tourists and locals alike. Waihi Beach Information Centre is situated in the Village.
The very popular Hauraki Rail Trail starts at the Waihi Rail Station with its steam train rides and bike trail through the beautiful Karangahake Gorge which includes the 1 km long train tunnel. The well known Windows Walk combined with the Waitawheta River walks and for the fitter a climb to the summit of Mt Karangahake are all available.
